What is IPv6?

Internet Protocol version 6 is the successor to IPv4, using 128-bit addresses and redesigned neighbour and configuration mechanisms. This profile connects the concept to KBY's practical engineering guidance.

IPv6 removes practical global-address scarcity and supports stateless address configuration, multicast-based neighbour discovery and simplified headers. It does not remove the need for firewalls, DNS, routing policy or careful dual-stack transition planning.
