OpenTelemetry

Also known as: OTel

Following adds this technology to your private workspace so related learning is easier to organise and revisit.

Technology explained

What is OpenTelemetry?

OpenTelemetry is an open standard and toolkit for generating, collecting and exporting traces, metrics and logs. This profile connects the concept to KBY's practical engineering guidance.

Its APIs, SDKs, semantic conventions and Collector decouple application instrumentation from a specific observability backend. Sampling, attribute governance, context propagation and collector topology remain deployment decisions.

Primary purpose

Produce portable, consistently described telemetry across applications and infrastructure.
