What is TCP BBR?

TCP BBR is a congestion-control algorithm that estimates available bottleneck bandwidth and round-trip propagation time. This profile connects the concept to KBY's practical engineering guidance.

Unlike primarily loss-driven algorithms, BBR builds a model of the network path and paces traffic around its estimated operating point. Kernel version, queueing, fairness with other flows and path characteristics influence whether it improves throughput and latency.
