What is TLS?

Transport Layer Security is the standard cryptographic protocol for authenticating endpoints and protecting data in transit. This profile connects the concept to KBY's practical engineering guidance.

A TLS handshake negotiates protocol parameters, validates certificates where configured and derives session keys for confidentiality and integrity. Version policy, certificate identity, trust stores, cipher support and termination boundaries determine the protection actually achieved.
