FIDO2

Following adds this technology to your private workspace so related learning is easier to organise and revisit.

Technology explained

What is FIDO2?

FIDO2 is a set of open authentication standards for phishing-resistant public-key credentials and passkeys. This profile connects the concept to KBY's practical engineering guidance.

It combines the WebAuthn browser API with the CTAP authenticator protocol. A unique key pair is created for each service, keeping the private key on the user's authenticator and preventing shared secrets from being replayed at another site.

Primary purpose

Replace reusable passwords with strong, origin-bound public-key authentication.
