Windows Hello

Also known as: Windows Hello for Business

Following adds this technology to your private workspace so related learning is easier to organise and revisit.

Technology explained

What is Windows Hello?

Windows Hello for Business is Microsoft's passwordless authentication system using device-bound keys protected by a PIN or biometric gesture. This profile connects the concept to KBY's practical engineering guidance.

The user gesture unlocks a private key held by the device rather than being sent to a server. Deployment trust models integrate that key with Microsoft Entra ID or Active Directory and require registration, recovery and device-security planning.

Primary purpose

Provide strong user authentication using device-bound cryptographic credentials.
